1. Be Organized
Use time saving tools: appointment calendars, "to do" lists, e-mail, answering machines, file folders, etc. Have an organized workplace (don't waste time constantly looking for your work). Use your appointment calendar for everything, including listing study time. Use "to do" lists for both long-term and for each day/week.
2. Plan Ahead (Schedule it and it will happen!)
Determine how long your tasks will take (do this before agreeing to take on a task!) Consider whether any activities can be combined. Determine if big tasks can be broken down into smaller tasks that may be easier to schedule (such as studying for exams and visiting the library as part of an assignment to write a term paper).
3. Prioritize Your Tasks
Use an A-B-C rating system for items on your "to do" lists with A items being highest priority. Set goals for both the short term and long term as to what you want to accomplish. Look at all of your "to do"s to gauge the time requirement and whether additional resources will be needed to accomplish them (if yes, schedule time to obtain those resources). Don't postpone the small tasks (a sense of accomplishment is good and overlooked small tasks can become larger tasks.)
4. Avoid Overload
Include time for rest, relaxation, sleep, eating, exercise, and socializing in your schedule. Take short breaks during study and work periods. Don't put everything off until the last minute (for example, don't cram for exams). Learn to say "no" when appropriate and to negotiate better deadlines when appropriate.
5. Practice Effective Study Techniques
Have an appropriate study environment. Split large tasks into more manageable tasks. Be prepared to ask questions as they come up during study, rather than waiting until just before an exam. Don't Waste Time with Pleasantries Winston Churchill called opening pleasantries “banalities.” Don’t tell the audience how happy you are to be speaking to them. Don’t tell them what a great group of people they are. Don’t acknowledge the dignitaries in the audience. It all sounds like so much hooey. (You can make similar comments later in your speech when they’ll sound more sincere.)
Do Jump Right In Tell a story. Make a startling assertion. Ask a provocative question. Cite a brief quote or outrageous statistic. Whatever you do, just do it. Don’t introduce your introduction.
Don't Apologize “I’m sorry I didn’t have more time to prepare.” “Please excuse me, I’m not a very good speaker.” “I hope you’ll overlook my nervousness.” Apologies are either an insult to the audience or an invitation not to be taken seriously. Don’t put yourself and your insecurities up front. Focus instead on the audience and on your message.
The time and effort you put into crafting a powerful opening – whichever strategy you choose – will pay off. It will win you the audience’s attention, respect, and goodwill. And it will make you feel more confident.
It's likely you've felt hurt by people in your life by something they said, did or did not do to you. Most probably, you have not always forgiven these people. In fact, you have probably harbored a deep resentment toward them for the way they hurt you. But now, you recognize that it's not good for you to harbor such resentments since they tend to bring you down and depress you. The way to deal with the situation is to revisit and resolve it and that entails forgiving the person who hurt you. Unsure how to do it? Sure you are. But it's not as difficult as you might first think. Here's how to go about forgiving people for something they did in the past-possibly something they don’t even remember doing or saying to you.
firstly... Recognize the people against whom you harbor resentments: When you are with a person, be it a family member, friend, work colleague, neighbor or associate, and you feel an inner repulsion or negative impulse to avoid and negate them from your space, you can be sure you're resentful towards this person for some reason.
Secondly... Recognize what the person did that causes you to harbor a resentment: Scroll through the history of your life to identify just what it was that this person you hold a resentment for said or did that hurt you so badly. Then...Identify for what you are forgiving this person in a script: Now that you have identified the person you want to forgive, you need to get down in writing a “script” which you will follow as you tell this person that you are fogriving her for what was done.
After that... Make an assessment as to whether the person is able to receive being forgiven: You need to be sure that if you take the risk to forgive this person that the person will accept it the way it's intended. If the person does not accept your forgiveness in the right way there is a good chance that you will be hurt again-but this time in a more destructive way because your “good intentions” were not accepted in a healing way. If your gesture gets ignored or “played down” then you will feel devalued, unloved, and dismissed all over again by this person. Even if the person is not ready to accept your forgiveness you still need to go to the next step.
Next.. Proceed to forgive the person in your heart for the hurts from the past: Once you have scripted out what you are forgiving this person for, do this forgiveness script over and over again in your mind so that, in your heart of hearts, you have forgiven this person for the past hurt.
After that... Continue to work on the forgiveness within your heart over and over again if, by chance, you fall back into hurt and resentment towards this person in the future.
Now,after assessing the potential of this person’s ability to hear your offer of forgiveness, you recognized that this person was indeed capable of accepting an open statement of forgiveness from you, then you move on to the next step.

Here are some tips to help you get through the first few moments of your speech:
Do Memorize your First Sentence
For the first 10 seconds or so of any speech your mind is doing its best to fight off an anxiety attack. It’s not the time to be creative. Write out your first sentence or two. And memorize it. (By the time you’ve made it through those first daunting moments, your mind will begin to function again.)
Don't Start with a Joke
Unless you’re a gifted comic, the chances of getting an audience to laugh at a joke right at the start are miniscule. Why invite disaster? Making some self-deprecating, humorous remark, on the other hand, is a great way to begin. (You can, if appropriate, tell a joke later in your presentation, after the audience has warmed up to you.)
Don't Waste Time with Pleasantries
Winston Churchill called opening pleasantries “banalities.” Don’t tell the audience how happy you are to be speaking to them. Don’t tell them what a great group of people they are. Don’t acknowledge the dignitaries in the audience. It all sounds like so much hooey. (You can make similar comments later in your speech when they’ll sound more sincere.)
Do Jump Right In
Tell a story. Make a startling assertion. Ask a provocative question. Cite a brief quote or outrageous statistic. Whatever you do, just do it. Don’t introduce your introduction.
Don't Apologize
“I’m sorry I didn’t have more time to prepare.” “Please excuse me, I’m not a very good speaker.” “I hope you’ll overlook my nervousness.” Apologies are either an insult to the audience or an invitation not to be taken seriously. Don’t put yourself and your insecurities up front. Focus instead on the audience and on your message.
The time and effort you put into crafting a powerful opening – whichever strategy you choose – will pay off. It will win you the audience’s attention, respect, and goodwill. And it will make you feel more confident.

It's likely you've felt hurt by people in your life by something they said, did or did not do to you. Most probably, you have not always forgiven these people. In fact, you have probably harbored a deep resentment toward them for the way they hurt you. But now, you recognize that it's not good for you to harbor such resentments since they tend to bring you down and depress you. The way to deal with the situation is to revisit and resolve it and that entails forgiving the person who hurt you. Unsure how to do it? Sure you are. But it's not as difficult as you might first think. Here's how to go about forgiving people for something they did in the past-possibly something they don’t even remember doing or saying to you.
firstly...
Recognize the people against whom you harbor resentments: When you are with a person, be it a family member, friend, work colleague, neighbor or associate, and you feel an inner repulsion or negative impulse to avoid and negate them from your space, you can be sure you're resentful towards this person for some reason.
Secondly...
Recognize what the person did that causes you to harbor a resentment: Scroll through the history of your life to identify just what it was that this person you hold a resentment for said or did that hurt you so badly.
Then...Identify for what you are forgiving this person in a script: Now that you have identified the person you want to forgive, you need to get down in writing a “script” which you will follow as you tell this person that you are fogriving her for what was done.
After that...
Make an assessment as to whether the person is able to receive being forgiven: You need to be sure that if you take the risk to forgive this person that the person will accept it the way it's intended. If the person does not accept your forgiveness in the right way there is a good chance that you will be hurt again-but this time in a more destructive way because your “good intentions” were not accepted in a healing way. If your gesture gets ignored or “played down” then you will feel devalued, unloved, and dismissed all over again by this person. Even if the person is not ready to accept your forgiveness you still need to go to the next step.
Next..
Proceed to forgive the person in your heart for the hurts from the past: Once you have scripted out what you are forgiving this person for, do this forgiveness script over and over again in your mind so that, in your heart of hearts, you have forgiven this person for the past hurt.
After that...
Continue to work on the forgiveness within your heart over and over again if, by chance, you fall back into hurt and resentment towards this person in the future.
Now,after assessing the potential of this person’s ability to hear your offer of forgiveness, you recognized that this person was indeed capable of accepting an open statement of forgiveness from you, then you move on to the next step.

Do you find yourself having a hard time saying “no” to people? Do you feel that if you did say “no” that you would not be liked, be disapproved of, or be discounted by other people who are asking of you things you really do not want to say “yes” to? Do you feel that if you say “no” that you could not live with the disapproval of people?
