errm. I am not too sure about the meaning of the quote. But I interpret it as we must able to learn on our own and not just always depends on teacher to "spoon feed" us. We must learn to be independent. The meaning is similar to a quote "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime".

I understand the meaning of this quote throughly.In the past, my teacher always stayed by my side to protect me.When i was 10 years old, she started to let me do everything in school.For a example, she did not give answer to me before i finish the mathematics exercises.So, i had to check the exercises because afraid of her punishment.As a result, i am so expert in mathematics. I also become independent to do my homeworks without the calling of my parents when i am free. Besides, i learn many study skills from her to improve my examination result what in hard conditions.In my opinion, i agree with the opinion Elbert Hubbard thet we have to let a child to independent when at the suitable time.Therefore, the child will not always get help from teacher when he or she facing problems.This child will become tough and will get great achievement in the future.
