it was a story about a chinese girl, bee lian who has no one to share that leads her to talk to her mangy cat everyday..
poor bee lian lost her both parents in an accident since she was young. she used to live with her grandparents..her grandparent otherwise cant give her a great condition of living since they are quite poor..
bee lian, instead of her simple lifestyle, used to be a good girl as well as a good friends...

THREE NUMBERS ALL EDUCATORS SHOULD KNOW

In the 1960s,Prof Alfred Merhabian's research showed communication is 55% body language ad 38% voice tonality. This leaves a whopping 7% of communication being "the words"!This often gets a reaction from people who think : "facts r facts, whether u whisper them, shout them or scream then",but human communication is much more than simple transmission of logical facts.

A friend, who is now the CEO of a large Malaysian latex company, gave a great example of this to me recently. He told me of his time at university, and of one particularly effective lecturer. This lecturer ran a popular course, and the students did well. Why?Was it an easy course? No.Did he have some special technology? No.

The answer came when my friend said ,"this lecturer was so very enthusiastic". It wasn't the 'what' of the lectures,or even his qualifications. It was 'how' he spoke so that students got engaged. As any good educator will tell u,the key is to get the students enthusiastic about their subject, which brings us to....

[extracted from PROSPECT MALAYSIA,Issue 003|June 2007]

In my opinion, the main tool of the educators for affecting the changes in students is namely linguistics.
What a powerful tool it is!
By linguistics,I mean more than just their knowledge, their facts, and their words.
The world of languages includes body language, voice tonality, not to mention the selection process of the words used.
A current example which holds true to this research theory,is our Pn Jumani, with her method of teaching which makes up of active learning, really helps to accelerate the learning process.

Hello..

i had read an article about the meaning of quality education!

Usharani Balasingam from Taylor's University College, reflects upon the STAR-ACMS Conference on Globalising Higher Education in Malaysia. She ponders current thinking about what constitutes a 'good university' and examines the connections between R&D collaboration and external linkages...

Professor Wang Gung Wu took a similar line, arguing that a university's best products are its graduates and the new knowledge generated by scholars and researchers. He cautioned that the university must be protected against monopolistic practises and arbitrary demands and open itself to objective criteria.

To be excellence in teaching and learning, benchmarking with local and international universities and with industrial and commercial sectors is crucial. Knowledge has to be shared, managed, created and innovated to boost development and growth of an industry and a nation.

wai mun,

I have read an article about attracting organ donors. This issue has been making a headlines as government and medical professionals try to overcome it.But sadly, despite of how many effort that they did the rates of organ donation have not risen for 10 years.Yet the demand for organs is raising.

Despite numerous campaigns and extensive media coverage, there are still members of public and even medical proffesionals who lack knowledge about organ transplant resulting to loss of potential donors.Member of public often have misconception regarding the completeness of organsin their next life. Most of the reasons are due to misunderstanding of the organisation and process.Hence Red Cross organ donation centre tried different approaches(publishing booklet, advertisement and having celebrities as ambassadors) to spread the word on organ donation.

Besides,in order to meet in creasing demand for organ transplantation Taipei city government annouced that it would be offering free funerals for donors. It's a controversial issue as some members of public against it due to organs donaation is being commercialised. But in my opinion i agree Horward Nathan.president of gift of life donor program stated "it's not a deal but just about having a voluntary death benefit for family who gave a gift."However this project neva too off due to it's against National Transplant Act.

In all,it's all about our generosity to save other people's lives.Do our religious really a barrier? The answer is resounding "no",all our religion approve it instead encourage us to always help peoples.Let us play a role!Spread the word,"organ donation saves lives."

i jz read about PARIS: Under intense pressure to throw banks battered by the worst financial crisis since the 1930s a lifeline before world markets reopen, European leaders raced against the clock to clinch a rescue strategy.

At a summit in Paris, the focus fixed firmly on how much state money governments could mobilise to buy into banks if needed, and if they would also underwrite lending between banks, paralysed for now by fear and distrust.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the meeting would come up with an "ambitious and coordinated plan" to tackle the crisis, which spread from the United States more than a year ago but hit fever pitch in recent weeks.

In Britain, banks were in crisis talks with the government and regulators, which could see the government take multi-billion-pound stakes in several lenders.
Across the globe, Australia and New Zealand announced they would guarantee bank deposits.

The International Monetary Fund said it backed a five-point action plan by the Group of Seven leading industrialised nations to stabilise markets.

It said bold action was needed to persuade banks to resume lending and bring an end to a spreading credit crunch that had pushed global stocks to five-year lows.

The plan states that the G7 would "take decisive action and use all available tools to support systemically important financial institutions and prevent their failure".

It added that G7 members would "take all necessary steps to unfreeze credit and money markets and ensure that banks and other financial institutions have broad access to liquidity and funding".

The IMF also said it was ready to lend to countries in need of capital in the financial crisis.

The fund's International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) said it "considers that, using its emergency procedures, the fund stands ready to quickly make available substantial resources to help member countries cover financing needs".

"If market confidence is not restored this weekend, it's game over," said Marco Annunziata, chief economist for UniCredit, an Italian bank which is among many whose shares have been hurt in panic-stricken stock markets.

Last week, the Standard & Poor's 500 index tumbled more than 18 per cent, its worst week on record, while European stocks plunged 22 per cent and Tokyo's Nikkei crashed 24 per cent on the week.

Coordinated interest-rate cuts by central banks failed to soothe investors' nerves and credit markets remained logjammed.

Money markets, less visible to the public, are essentially on life support and dependent on regular, massive injections of emergency liquidity from central banks across the globe, because banks themselves will not lend to each other as they used to.

The Paris meeting was hastily arranged by Sarkozy on the heels of a G7 summit in Washington.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, whose country had not adopted the euro , was invited to Paris because the euro zone wanted to possibly replicate something like the rescue plan announced in London last week.

Sarkozy and German leader Angela Merkel said they had prepared a number of solutions to try to restore normal flows in credit markets.

In an interview with Britain's Observer newspaper, Brown said he would try to broker a Europe-wide bail-out of banks modelled on Britain's intervention, saying the "stakes could not be higher" for jobs, mortgages and the future of the economy.

In London, big British banks were likely to announce their plans to recapitalise early today , a source said.

The banks were in talks with the government and regulators to determine how much capital each needs from the STG50 billion (RM300 billion) offered by Britain on Wednesday. An announcement was expected before the market opened today, said the source, who declined to be identified.

The Sunday Times said Royal Bank of Scotland, HBOS, Lloyds TSB and Barclays could ask for a combined STG35 billion lifeline. Spokesmen for all four banks declined to comment.

The government could take seats on the boards of banks, a government source said.

The Sunday Times said the scale of the fund-raising could lead to trading at the London Stock Exchange being suspended to give the market time to digest the impact.

Media reports on Saturday said Germany was readying a rescue package that could be worth up to US$549 billion, including the injection of equity capital worth "double digit" billions into its banks.

Under Australia's plan, all deposits in the country's banks, building societies and credit unions, would be guaranteed by the government for the next three years, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said. -- Agencies

From the Star.Genting Bhd is venturing into the renewable energy sector by acquiring one million shares of US-based Synthetic Genomics, Inc (SGI) for US$8mil or RM28.2mil from its founder.

Genting announced to Bursa Malaysia on Friday that its indirect unit Dragasac Ltd, was acquiring the Class A common stock, with a par value of 0.2 US cents each, at US$8 per share from its founder Dr J Craig Venter.

Genting said the one million SGI shares represented the economic and voting interests of about 2% and 3% respectively of SGI as at Sept 12.

“SGI, under the leadership of Dr Venter, is dedicated to the research, development and commercialisation of genomic-driven solutions for the production of clean and sustainable energy.

“With the continued drive towards renewable energy globally in mind, the proposed Acquisition represents an opportunity for Genting to invest and participate in the potential growth of the renewable energy sector,” it said.

SGI’s main activity was to develop and commercialise genomic-driven solutions that address global challenges, beginning with energy and the environment.

This would see SGI applying synthetic and natural biological approaches to develop commercial solutions for a cleaner and more sustainable future.

“SGI is designing novel metabolic pathways and synthesising whole chromosomes for the biological production of renewable energy and the creation of solutions that will help reduce the world’s dependency on oil and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions,” it said. Last year, SGI had entered into a long-term R&D deal with BP to develop biological conversion processes that could lead to cleaner energy production and improve recovery rates of subsurface hydrocarbons.

In the same year, SGI also teamed up with Asiatic Development Bhd group to focus on the R&D and commercialisation of genomics-based solutions to produce improved planting materials to increase yield and enhance value creation from oil palm.

As at Dec 31, last year SGI had consolidated net assets of about US$59.5mil and recorded a net loss of about US$9.8mil.

Run story....let read

I was teaching a very basic class in BASIC programming to a group of adults. Adults who have never been around computers before are very nervous and much harder to teach than children, however I am a patient person so I enjoy their successes.

However, I must share the following:

After putting a short program on the board, I told the students to type "R," "U," "N" and press return to see the program execute.

A hand went up in the back of the room, waving to get my attention, and the person attached to the hand said, "I did what you said and it didn't work." Knowing full-well that all of us make mistakes when typing at the computer, I suggested she retype "R," "U," "N" and press return. A few seconds later, the lady's hand goes up again. "It still doesn't work," she said.

So... I went back to see what the problem was ... only to find that instead of typing RUN, she had typed in the following: ARE YOU IN !

Seeing this, the man decides to get his revenge. He goes up to the first Taxi and says: "hey will you give me a blowjob?" the taxi driver says: "no you freak, get out of my car!"

The man then goes on to the next car and says: "hey will you give me a blowjob?" the taxi driver says: "no you maniac, get out of my car!" The man continues to do this all down the line until he reaches the last taxi, and sees his enemy.

The man asks: "how much for a ride to the airport?" Not reconising him the driver replies: "$5" "Okay." says the man and he gets in. Then as he passes the line of other taxis, he sticks his hands out the window and gives them all a big thumbs up.

Money

There was a man who worked all of his life and saved all of his money. He was a real miser when it came to his money. He loved money more than just about anything, and just before he died, he said to his wife, "Now listen, when I die, I want you to take all my money and place it in the casket with me. I wanna take my money to the afterlife."

So he got his wife to promise him with all her heart that when he died, she would put all the money in the casket with him.

Well, one day he died. He was stretched out in the casket, the wife was sitting there in black next to her closest friend. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said "Wait just a minute!"

She had a shoe box with her, she came over with the box and placed it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down and rolled it away. Her friend said, "I hope you weren't crazy enough to put all that money in the casket."

"Yes," the wife said, "I promised. I'm a good Christian, I can't lie. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him."

"You mean to tell me you put every cent of his money in the casket with him?"

"I sure did. I got it all together, put it into my account and I wrote him a check."

Recently, i have read The New Straits Time news. The title is `Close call for two as concrete falls on cars'.

The news story about two motorists cheated death after small chunks of concrete from Pillar 28 of the Middle Ring Road 2 flyover hit the roof of their cars. The two were heading towards Batu Caves from Sungai Buloh.

A witness, RapidKL bus attendant Zainuddin Mohamad Taib, said he saw chunks of plaster from Pillar 28 hitting the roofs of the cars. The drivers were lucky as they immediately moved over to the side of the highway to check their cars.

The 37-year-old said he was aware of cracks on one of the pillars.

Another witness, lorry driver Sundar Kandarsamy, 30, said the cracks were quite visible.

"Somebody could be killed if the pillar gives way."

Motorist Tan Shing, who uses the MRR2 daily, said he was fed up with the situation.
"This is the third time. It is an inconvenience to everyone because the congestion is terrible," he said.

Conclusion??? many witness there..ehehehe.....
