P.R.E.S.E.N.T your steps/ formula to becoming an EFFECTIVE presenter (2nd draft): All sections comment here

On 3rd August you have watched 11 videos. Here they are in case you want a second or third round. All sections (P09 and P10, P11 and P12, P13), leave your comments here on the questions at the end of this post. Remember to give your group name, your section and group members' names. One comment per group. Thank you.

So, here are the clips again if you want to watch them again. Or if you've missed some "on your journey of self discovery" in the words of Doug Jefferys. The Ed Tate one is not here though. Sorry! But I substituted it and added some new ones too! Enjoy!

Video 1-Microsoft Dude

Video 2-The Last Lecture: Dr Randy Pausch passed away 25 July 2008

Video 3-Visuals in powerpoint: from Slideshare

Video 4-Identity 2.0 Dick Hardt

Video 5-Mark Gungor: Tale of 2 brains

Video 6-Ed Tate: World Champion Speaker: How to deal with bullies (can't find the one I showed you on youtube...sorry guys; perhaps this is better.)

Video 7-Tony Robbins: Why we do what we do, and how we can do it better

Video 8-CBC Body Language Expert —Top Keynote Speaker—Mark Bowden

Video 9-Doug Jefferys: Killer Presentation Skills

Video 10-T.J. Walker: Don't Turn Your Back

Video 11-T.J. Walker: Making Mistakes

Here's one more that's interesting but you have to check out youtube yourself. Here's the link in case you don't see the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPOGAKpFsas&feature=related

Also, here's another slideshare powerpoint which I hope will help you design better slides.

In your group, discuss:
(1) the difference between an experienced and inexperienced public speakers
(2) why people are afraid to speak in public
(3) support your answers with your own experiences
(4) revise your first draft of P.R.E.S.E.N.T.
(5) for each video you watched
(a) who do you think are the audience?
(b) what do you like about each presenter in each video (only videos 1 to 11)?

Answer all questions, yea? Again, this is a group assignment; so do not leave individual comments unless you want to. Thank you and have a great weekend this week!

1.For experienced public speakers, they are more confidence and very relax because they are very familiar with this situation. .They have ability to interaction with audience so that they can use own skills to contorl the thought of audience. For inexperienced speakers, most of them will be nervous to speak in public. They are afraid and shy to present. The voice is not loudly,do not have self-confidence and no passion during presentation.

2.Public speaking means to speak and present your ideas in public. It can happen to anyone at anytime and anywhere.People are afriad to speak in public because they are nervous and no experience. They break out in cold sweat, their stomach turn upside and down and then lose ability to think. It needs practise and practise make perfect.

3.When i first came to ump and attended english program,i had a lot of presentation. At first,i did not know how to present and felt nervous during presentation. After a
few months,i learnt some skills for presenting. Then i became more confidence comparing with begining.so more practise, more perfect.

4.P---prepare
R---reaction
E---eye contact
S---self-confidence
E---emotion
N---no nervous
T---terminology

i am seow kok how from newbie group,.,lily ask me to comment straight away to prevent difficulty
so i will start with a question number 5a)
i think there are a worker of a company,.,because what they are presenting normally like got related to the field of business, its like something studying in emotional and also about how to be a good presenter and promoter, they learn how to catch what are the concep in comunicate also, beside that, the audience that i have some view,i think they age is not very young and is in an average age,so i think they are employee from a company, thxx

elton seow kok how said...

ok,for the answer in 5b)
ok,i think the most interesting and i like it very much is dick hardt
he using a slide show with a picture and simple word to present his point out, so i think will be very interesting and i understand well what he trying to tell and explain to us and what he trying to make a joke with a clear and understandable meaning,
every speakers can just speak but there are many type of audience and not all audience is educated and having a sharp ear and high concentration, speaking may make us boring if we don't not understand it,so i think with a simple slide show and some picture will explain more than just having a normal speech,so i think dick hardt is my most interesting speaker and presenter,so i will like his video, thxx

1. firstly i think that all the video is interesting in their own way.each of the video show different type of presenting a speech.it taught me n my friends a lot. it gave us an idea on how to make an effective presentation and how to be a good presenter. we learnt that there are many ways to present and it's all about the presenter's creativity.

2.all the videos are giving us an idea about our formula. we all together discuss and made a decision that our formula is the best.so this is our formula:

P: PERSONALITY
R: RESEARCH
E: EYE CONTACT
S: SKILLS
E: ENTERTAINING
N: NATURAL ACT
T: TIMING

so,we think that our formula is the best according to the videos.

we all thanked you for showing us all the videos that inspires us to be the better presenter after this.

1.we can see that experienced public speaker have more confident when giving their speech. They are comfortable enough in front of the publics and they know how to overcome when they make a mistakes and they know how to attract audiences.

2.our group think that people afraid to speak in public because they do not have enough confident when facing to publics, or maybe they have the symptoms of 'stage freak'. Some of them are not confident with their grammar and using the correct languages.

3. our first experiences was when the first presentation. we did not have that enough confident yet. even until now some of us are still nervous and our hands are still shaking when presentation time.
